Youth Caucus 2026

Creating a vibrant and accessible booklet for a youth caucus in Iqaluit.

Background

The Gordon Foundation is a charitable organization with a long history of protecting Canada’s water and working in Canada’s North. They seek opportunities to amplify underrepresented voices, elevate emerging issues, and collaborate with like-minded organizations to drive powerful, sustainable outcomes.

The brief

Every year, The Gordon Foundation collaborates on a Youth Caucus in the Arctic. For the 2026 event, they needed a 20-page booklet to be printed and distributed to attendees.

The 2026 theme, “Nunavut Shipping Symposium,” brought participants together to share concerns, priorities, and resources related to shipping activities, co-governance, legislation, policy, and research.

The challenge

Create an engaging booklet that provides attendees and participants with important information about the symposium. The challenge was to create something that would appeal to the youth and students in attendance while still clearly communicating all of the necessary information.

The solution

We used a playful, bold heading typeface to capture the attention of a younger audience, while maintaining a consistent layout throughout. Ample white space helps break up the high volume of text, creating a clean, approachable design that makes the information easy to navigate.
