Newfoundland’s South West Coast
Three communities. Three unique identities. One connected digital experience.
Background
Nestled along Newfoundland’s South West Coast, the communities of Burgeo, Ramea, and Francois are known for their rugged landscapes, rich history, and close-knit communities. While each town has its own unique character, they share a deep connection to the region and offer unforgettable experiences for residents and visitors alike.
The brief
Each community came to us looking for a modern website that would better showcase everything their town has to offer. They needed a digital presence that would capture the beauty and identity of each community, make visitor information easier to find, and simplify travel planning for those exploring these remote regions.
The challenge
Designing for three communities meant creating distinct digital identities while maintaining a cohesive experience across the region. The websites also needed to simplify travel logistics, making information about ferries, accommodations, attractions, and local amenities easier to navigate for visitors planning a trip to these remote coastal communities.
The solution
We designed three unique websites connected by a shared design system, allowing each community to showcase its own personality while feeling part of Newfoundland’s South West Coast. A custom illustrated regional map, featured across all three sites, ties the experience together and helps visitors navigate the region with confidence.
Within the first 6 months of launching, the sites saw...
increase in website visits
result on Google when searching for each town
countries represented in site traffic geography
“We hired Sore Thumb to design our new website and couldn’t be happier with the result. They were responsive, professional, and easy to work with, delivering a website that exceeded our expectations! Highly recommend them to any organization looking for quality web design.”
