The Updater
This non-profit needed two show-stopping magazines to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
Background
CESBA is an Ontario-based non-profit that advocates for and supports adult and continuing education program staff.
The brief
For their 25th Anniversary, CESBA wanted to revive “The Updater”, a limited-run magazine that they had in the past to promote their programs and provide resources for continuing education program staff. They approached us to design two issues of “The Updater” with striking visuals and a modern take on their previous issues.
What CESBA needed
1
Two, 32-page magazines designed, with 400+ copies printed for each magazine
2
15 unique spreads for each magazine, with expressive typography
3
Unique custom graphics for both issues, including scannable QR codes throughout
The challenge
With dozens of articles and different types of content, the client wanted a consistent design that celebrated each spread and kept the readers engaged, while conveying their current brand and values.
The solution
We chose a handful of playful fonts that could be used throughout the issues to maintain consistency while providing an exciting reveal on each page. We also incorporated CESBA’s brand colours throughout the issues to help unify the magazines with the rest of CESBA’s brand assets.
